These are the answers from our friend class in Finland.

When does your school usually start in the morning? At what time do you finish your school day?	We start usually at 8.15 or at 9.00, and we finish at 12.00, 13.15 or 14.15. Usually we work 5 lessons every day.
What do you do with your friends during the breaks? Do you play some games etc?	We have many games during breaks: for example “hide and seek”, football, fox-game (you try to catch friends), pupils’ own version of American football (they try to take a ball from each other, but not harmfully of course!), snow-games in the winter, ice hockey, basketball… We have two half an hour breaks and one 15 minutes break every day.
Can you name some typical school lunches at your school? What are your favourites?	We have for example: -potatoes with meat sauce -spaghetti with meat sauce -lasagne -mushroom sauce, potatoes and fish Our favourites are: ice cream, fish, sausage and mashed potatoes, ham casserole and watermelon salad.
What do you do during the sport lessons this week?	We skate, play ice hockey and ringette. Ringette is a softer version of icehockey. Right now it is about -10 degrees, so we have good ice in the school yard.
What do you do during the music lessons this week?	We play the recorder. Right now we play a song called “Elephant march”. We also sing songs, at the moment they tell about the winter. Next week we try to learn some ukule-playing.
What do you do during the art lessons this week?	We have just finished drawings about friendship. Last week we made penguin-pictures with pastel crayons (look at the photo).
Do you celebrate Valentine’s day in your country? Did you have some special program at school on Valentine’s day?	Yes, some people do. People send cards or give presents. But it is not a typical Finnish festival. At school we have some activities on Valentine’s day. Pupils wear a heart-card in the neck, give hugs to their school mates, and after hug they get an autograph to the heart-card. At the end of the school day, their heart is full of autographs. We also have a school disco in the evening. It is organized by class 5A.
